UP Manila National Telehealth Center - Philippines

In July 30, 1998, Chancellor Perlas Santos-Ocampo and the University Board of Regents established the National Telehealth Center (NTHC) as the leading research unit in the University of the Philippines. The center was responsible for creating cost-effective tools and ICT innovations to enhance health care. NTHC was the first to conduct telemedicine research and services in remote and underserved areas from Batanes to Zamboanga, partnering with the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT, 2004-2008) and the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD, 2008-2011). Today, NTHC continues to collaborate with numerous government and non-government institutions, conducting eHealth research, training, and service activities.
