It is the southernmost town in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur, facing the area wherein the waters of Illana Bay flows out to the Cotabato Sea. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 21,882 people in 4,017 households. Tabina is politically subdivided into 15 barangays.
