Review of Chartis Philippines Insurance, Inc.

1.0
I had a really terrible experience with this company. A certain "Sheena" from Chartis Philippines phoned me November last year (2012). She introduced this insurance company and I was interested since I am not a policy holder yet. She told me it's a recorded conversation. She took some of my personal info and my credit card info. I agreed that it would be billed through my credit card but I said I need a mail/email about the policy first so I can review it. She asked my email address and even my complete home address and promised that they'll send me more details through mails. Last month (January 10,2013), I was so shocked when I was at the cashier in one of SM branches in our city (Cagayan de Oro). I supposed to pay my grocery but my card was not honored. I checked my available credit before I left home to make sure my online payment is posted already and yes, it was! I did not bring cash enough for the grocery that time because I was expecting I can use my card. It was so disappointing especially that it was my son's birthday and I need to hurry home to prepare everything.

The next day, I checked my credit card statement and I saw 3 transactions paid to Chartis. They took all my available credit. I never received a single mail or even email from them regarding the policy, I never filled out any form and given a complete info about myself and my beneficiaries and I never signed a contract. I felt so bad about it.

Just today I received a phone call from Sheena and I've been waiting to hear any representative from Chartis. She asked me if I received my policies (she mentioned health and SM... something like that). I said I DID NOT RECEIVED ANY and was so shocked that they billed me without sending me the promised policy details to review. She just said sorry for the inconvenience and asked my email address again. I said that make no sense because I gave them already my email address during our first conversation, she promised that I'll receive a mail and they charged me already (3x in just 1day) and now she's asking me my email address again? I'm sorry but I was not able to control myself and raised my voice.

I told her that I'll cut/stop these policy and she gave me a number to call. I did not bother to memorize that number since I was already planning to contact Chartis Philippines from their website before she called me and besides the conversation was not very clear because of the very noisy background and I felt that she is not so knowledgeable that she cannot give me a good explanation regarding the case. I just hope they will not charge me again.
