our on-going project in hinigaran neg. occ. has 2 levels of roofing. thru colorsteel bacolod, we contracted the recommended roofers (group from iloilo) of the branch in bacolod to install the roof for us. when they completed the upper roof, there was a very glaring omission of 2 flashings that the workers failed to complete after they hurriedly took off to iloilo & home, leaving the whole work unfinished. nobody there from colorsteel to check their work quality for them. as the engineer consultant of the project, i was not able to reach them on site to rectify their mistake as they had already left for home before i arrived. anyway colorsteel bacolod office promised to rectify the work when they will install the lower roof. i believed them. its still not completely done until today.
later, about a month ago today, while the roofers were installing the lower roof, i came to inspect the site & see the quality of work myself. no colorsteel foreman was there & i only saw 2 laborers finishing up the work; they told me their foreman had already returned to iloilo leaving them to wrap up the job. after inspecting their work, i found very serious mistakes and errors on the lower roof installation; to my dismay, they did a very sloppy & unacceptable job! i.e. eaves were not aligned, holes and dents in the roof, mis-screwed fasteners, ridge rolls not aligned and sealant was applied carelessly all over the roof to hide very ugly gaps between the roof sheets & ridge rolls. in 2 instances, they applied a very large lump of sealant over 2 fasteners that did not hit a purlin by mistake. i complained to the workers left behind by the foreman but they could not give me any acceptable answer regarding their disastrous work. they were inexperienced laborers fresh out of the barrio left behind by their leader. they just went all over the roof area to seem busy making repairs, while i was complaining, only to add more dents to the roof w/ their careless trodding on the installed sheets. i strongly complained about this unacceptable work to the colorsteel office in bacolod and they said they would immediately send engineers to inspect the work and do repairs ASAP. its been almost a month now since 2 engineers visited the site confirming the slipshod work their roofers did. both promised they would immediately send workers to repair their shoddy job. colorsteel bacolod office has also repeatedly promised to send workers very soon, but until now, the work remains unrepaired and still unacceptable. i & the owner have not lacked in following up w/ bacolod office about this matter. just this morning I was on-site; but still no roofers to do repairs. sad thing about this whole incident is that the owner has already PAID the materials & labor IN FULL, IN GOOD FAITH!!! we pray that someone higher up in the Colorsteel Management echelon reads this or hears about this & does something about it soonest! note that this is not the first project i have had w/ your company. I have in the recent months completed 3 duplexes, a 4 door & another 3 door commercial bldg project all using colorsteel roofing material. I have more projects in the pipeline. We have had slight problems w/ your roofers in the past but those were addressed & rectified after a short while. unfortunately, this is the 1st time i have been given this group of unprofessional roofers from iloilo who may not have been properly screened or tested by your company but yet fully entrusted w/ a job that they were not capable of doing properly ! I hope & pray that you will repair & rectify your work in my project in hinigaran at the earliest possible time!
