DWIZ was formerly known as DZPI from 1949 to 1991 onwed by Manila Broadcasting Company. DZPI renamed as DWIZ in May 12, 1991 as a Music and news station still owned by MBC. In 1996, DWIZ split off on the MBC family to the newly-owned Insular Broadcasting Corporation (now a subsidiary of Aliw Broadcasting Corporation). In 1999, the station awarded as the Best AM station in the KBP Golden Dove Awards.DWIZ plans to reach into a nationwide radio audience through its relay transmitters sometime in the future.
