ALAGAD Party-List was founded in November 1997. Accredited by the COMELEC in the same year representing the urban poor sector, it ran in the first party-list election held in May 1998 and landed 3rd among the successful sectoral parties, obtaining one (1) seat in the 11th Congress (1998-2001).In the last May 2004 party-list elections, the party again emerged as one of the 15 elected party-list groups in the 13th Congress. With its total votes of more than 340,000, ALAGAD garnered one (1) seat and is currently represented in the House by Rep. Rodante D. Marcoleta.ALAGAD is aligned with the majority, through a coalition, but acts independently on issues that impact on its sector and those which tend to serve the best interest of its constituents.
