The Philippine National Oil Company – Alternative Fuels Corporation (PNOC-AFC) was formerly known as the PNOC Petrochemical Development Corporation (PPDC) until its Articles of Incorporation was amended on July 13, 2006. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Philippine National Oil Company.The PNOC-AFC’s primary mandate is to explore, develop and accelerate the utilization and commercialization of alternative fuels in the country. The Corporation aims to meet increasing global demand for biofuels and provide maximum returns while contributing to job creation and poverty alleviation efforts of the Government through alternative fuels production and utilization.The role of PNOC-AFC in the government’s Alternative Fuels Program has become even more relevant with the signing into law of Republic Act 9367 also known as the Biofuels Act of 2006 – the first of its kind in Southeast Asia – on January 12, 2007.
