Metrobank Card Corporation (MCC), formerly known as Unibancard Corporation, was established in August 1985 and launched its first product, Unicard – a single currency credit card that could be used at select establishments in the Philippines. In 1994, Unicard joined the MasterCard scheme and in 1998, it joined the Visa scheme, allowing the card to be accepted internationally.
